Istanbouli Theatre, in collaboration with the Municipality of the city of Tyre, presents the programme activities for the
second edition of the International
Theatre Festival of Tyre,
that will be taking place from 6 to 10 of June 2015 in the city of Tyre, South of Lebanon.
This year's edition of
the Festival will be devoted to the great Lebanese theatre artist Raymond Gebara, recently gone, and he will be honoured
during the Opening Ceremony.
After a careful
evaluation of the high number of proposals received from all around the world,
the Festival will show on the Al Hamra stage theatre plays coming from Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, Tunis, Palestine and Lebanon, and a selection of oral poetry coming from Lebanon, Lybia and Spain.
The Festival will
focus on Theatre Workshops covering a wide range of theatre aspects and
offered to the young theatre community of Tyre, as well as in creating a space
where theatre students of the city can share with visiting Theatre artists
their experiences in the creative process.
Kassem Istanbouli,
director of the Festival, highlights the importance of having important artists
as Egyptian actor Ahmad Rateb and Algerian director Haroun Al Kilani, amongst
others, visiting the city of Tyre in order to enable the theatre students in
the city to gather with them and learn from their experiences.
The International Theatre
Festival of Tyre 2015 will be hosted by AL HAMRA Cinema, the Theatre which opened last year 2014 through the efforts of Kassem Istanbouli and a team of young volunteers from the city after being closed for over 30 years. Since its reopening Istanbouli Theatre has organized the International Theatre
Festival in
June 2014, the International Film Festival in October 2014 and the
International Music Festival of Tyre, March 2015.
